Deals on Telecommunication

From cellphone plans to calling cards to long distance telephone services, the deals are out there if you know where to find them.

The key to saving on telecommunications is to do your homework. Compare providers, and even after you have selected a provider, don't be afraid to recompare every 6-9 months (or at least annually). If your current provider is offering a deal to new subscribers that is better than the one you're one, call them on it. Often, you'll find they would rather work with you than lose you as a customer.

The Telephone Research and Action Center is an excellent resource. Check out TRAC's article on how to save money on your long distance bill. They also have an article on how to have a cell phone for emergencies without a wireless provider. One thing they don't mention in their article is you can acquire such a phone off eBay, thus avoiding the issues of trying to buy a phone new without a service plan.
